TESA Mining RTO (90845) is licensed to run the Mining Industry Skills Centre (MISC), Generic Induction Queensland Coal (GIQ Coal). The development of GIQ Coal is in response to the introduction of Standard 11. GIQ Coal is primarily designed for short term contractors who need to move between multiple sites and, importantly, have current industry experience relevant to their role.

Participants who successfully complete the course receive an official GI Passport which will be valid for 2 years. Anyone with an existing GI Passport will need to complete the GIQ Coal Bridging Course. Existing GI Passports will remain valid until the refresh date; however please check with site on conditions.

Course Structure

The GIQ Coal course has an optional pre-course eLearning available, this 2-3 hours online component is available for those who would like to complete in their own time.
If this is not completed prior to course then the Coal course will done during the 3 day induction. Participants are assessed throughout the Course against the following units of competency:

• RIIOHS201A - Work safely and follow OHS policies and procedures
• RIIERR205A - Apply initial response first aid
• RIIGOV201A - Comply with site work processes/procedures
• RIIRIS201A - Conduct local risk control
• RIICOM201A - Communicate in the workplace
• RIIERR302A - Respond to local emergencies and incidents
